Beta course in The Work of Byron Katie

Welcome. I'm so glad you found your way here.

This is a great opportunity to learn The Work of Byron Katie© also called Inquiry Based Stress Reduction (IBSR).

This is a tool of self-discovery. It works with your mind to determine your limiting concepts so you can question them, thereby uncovering what is actually true while also learning how to transcend the egoic thinking mind altogether.

This is a beta course which means it's the first time I am running it. As such, I'm offering it at a small percentage of the cost I will charge when I offer it subsequently. It's a chance for me to work out the kinks as well as to get your feedback on what worked for you and what you think would improve it.

Here's what to expect:

When: Wednesdays at 3pm (Toronto/New York) for roughly 75 minutes (to a max of 90 minutes).

Where: Live on Zoom (+ recordings)

Length: 4 weeks, November 26th - December 17th

What: Weekly theme (Relationships, Health/Body, Money/Safety, The world/Life)

Cost: $87US / $120CDN

I've set this up so that we can touch on a new theme each week to give you a taste of how to work with each of these categories when they come up in your life.

This is an introductory course for you to learn the practice of self-inquiry so you don't need to have any prior experience with it. That said, people who are familiar with The Work can join as well and you will benefit from it. The power is in actually doing the practice, not in merely understanding how to do it, so if you are experienced in this work then you will have ample chance to practice every week and grow your awareness.

This course is oriented around experiential learning, meaning this is a highly practical course and you will leave with a strong grasp of how to do The Work. See the self-inquiry section on my home page to read more about the nature of this awareness practice.

FAQs

1. Do I have to have my camera on?

This will be up to you, and, it would be great to be able to see your face.

2. Do I have to participate?

No one ever will be put on the spot to answer or speak at any time. I do not deviate from this. You will always be the one to decide whether you speak or don't speak. You may take the entire course and not speak once and be able to learn this work. That said, if you notice a dislike of participating, you could try speaking and see that the worst that can happen is a thought. You might find you are actually okay with it.

Each week, there will be the opportunity to pair up with someone (including me if there is an uneven number of people) to practice The Work between our weekly group session. This is entirely optional and you can decide on a week by week basis.

3. Do I have to be on every call?

Nope. Life happens. And it would be great if you were there. The more the merrier. Recordings of the sessions will be sent to you shortly after the session.

The amazing thing about doing The Work in a group is that we get to see of Katie's "There are no new stressful thoughts." In other words, in becomes very evident that what we've come to think of as "my mind"is actually the same mind as everyone else. "One mind," says Katie.

4. If I don't like it, can I get a refund?

For this one, no.

5. What's better, working in a group or working one-on-one?

Both are powerful. I find that in a group you get to really see how we all share the same mind, which is such a relief. We think we are especially confused or broken and since we tend to hide this out of shame, we don't actually find out that everyone can relate. We also get the chance to practice letting ourselves be seen, if we choose to. This alone is a very transformative experience.
